CPQ pricing in 2026: what it actually costs

What CPQ costs in 2026: implementation, licences and upkeep, in EUR. Calendar time, cost ranges from our own projects, and what drives them.

What does a CPQ implementation cost?

The implementation project is the one-off part: modelling your products, rules and prices, integrating with ERP and CRM, and getting the first quotes out. Calendar time matters as much as the invoice, because your own product expert is tied up for most of it.

Partner-led implementation. Your own team's time comes on top.

Two things to budget for besides the partner:

  • Your own team's time. Expect your senior product expert at about half time during the project. In a small company, that is the cost that hurts most, and it never shows up on a quote.
  • A fixed price, once the scope is clear. We scope the work in an Analysis Workshop and quote the implementation fixed price after that, so there are no change orders halfway. See how we run projects on our Tacton CPQ consultants page.

What do CPQ licences cost?

Enterprise CPQ is priced per user per month, usually on an annual agreement and often with a minimum number of users. That minimum, more than the technology, is what keeps CPQ out of reach for many smaller manufacturers.

Rule of thumb: CPQ licences typically cost about 0.1% of annual revenue. A €100M manufacturer typically pays around €100k a year. The real number depends on how many people log in to sell and which platform you choose.

For a public reference point: Salesforce Revenue Cloud is listed at about $150 (Growth) and $200 (Advanced) per user per month, billed annually and on top of a Sales Cloud licence, according to third-party price trackers such as CostBench. Check current terms with the vendor before you budget on them.

Tacton is priced per user per month too, and quoted per customer based on users and needs. As a Tacton reseller we give you a real number for your user count in the first meeting rather than a range on a web page.

AI-native CPQ prices differently. sailsrep.ai, which we work with, starts at €990 a month billed annually with 500 quotes a year included, charges seats only for people who log in to sell, and does not carry the half-time upkeep of a traditional CPQ. It suits a different situation than a full Tacton programme: a focused product line, a customer-facing configurator, or a first step before a larger project.

What does CPQ cost after go-live?

Licences continue. So does the work of keeping the model true to your products:

  • Model upkeep on a traditional CPQ: about 0.5 FTE a year. Rule changes, new options, price updates, integration fixes and platform upgrades, done internally or by a partner. This is the line buyers forget most often.
  • Licences. The same per-user rate, renewed annually.

A traditional CPQ that nobody maintains does not fail on day one. It drifts: new options arrive without rules, prices get patched outside the system, and within a year sales stops trusting it. The 0.5 FTE is what prevents that. AI-native CPQ such as sailsrep.ai does not need it.

What drives the cost up or down?

  • Number of product families. The first is the most expensive; each additional family reuses structure and integrations.
  • Markets and languages. More markets mean more price lists, documents and local rules.
  • Integrations. ERP is standard; CRM, PIM and CAD each add work, and so does every system you want the configuration to flow into.
  • How well your rules are documented. If the product logic lives in one person's head, the project starts by writing it down.
  • Channels. Opening the configurator to dealers or customers adds roles, pricing visibility and front-end work, see mobile CPQ and self-service.

Want a sanity check on a quote you have received, or a real number for your own scope? Book a meeting and bring what you have.

Full disclosure: cpq.se is a Tacton reseller and implementation partner for small and mid-sized manufacturers, and a CPQ advisor to enterprise organisations. We also work with sailsrep.ai, where our co-founder Magnus Fasth works.
